External traffic, nearby nightlife, aircraft paths and mechanical plant are obvious concerns. High ceilings, hard stone, glass walls and long parallel surfaces can create a striking visual language while amplifying sound reflection. That does not make them wrong. It means the composition must be balanced with absorbent surfaces, textured elements, layered furnishings or carefully shaped ceilings that retain architectural clarity.

Atmosphere has a sonic dimension

Every memorable hotel has an atmosphere that cannot be reduced to its palette or furniture schedule. It is created by temperature, texture, scent, movement, light and sound acting together.
