02 Oct Beyond Igloos: Exploring Hospitality Design in Rovaniemi
In hospitality design, a successful project often creates a unique experience for guests. The Glass Resort in Rovaniemi was an opportunity to evolve the concept of a traditional Lapland stay. Rather than a standard hotel, the design for the resort was centered on providing a direct connection to the natural world.
The resort’s glass-roofed lodges offer a chance for visitors to view the Northern Lights from a private space. The design and materials used in each lodge were chosen to provide a sense of comfort and intimacy. By focusing on the guest’s perspective, the project aimed to create an environment that feels welcoming and unique to its location.
This project, along with others like the Trasti & Trine Boutique Hotel and the Jeris Hotel Sauna Repo, illustrates an approach to hospitality design that goes beyond conventional methods. The aim is to create spaces that are memorable and relevant to their specific locations, offering a different kind of experience for visitors.
