06 Nov The Sauna Experience: Jeris Hotel Sauna Repo
In Finland, the sauna is more than just a room—it’s a cultural institution and a place for relaxation and community. When we were asked to design the sauna for the Jeris Hotel, we knew we needed to create a space that honored this tradition while bringing a fresh perspective. The Jeris Hotel Sauna Repo project focused on reinterpreting the classic sauna experience, blending traditional elements with a modern approach to architectural design.
The design of the sauna was centered on the experience of the bather. We considered the flow of the space, the use of natural light, and the feel of the materials. Wood was, of course, a key element, chosen for its warmth and its ability to create a calming and natural atmosphere. The project shows how a familiar space can be reimagined to provide a sense of luxury and tranquility. By focusing on the details and the sensory experience, we aimed to create a unique and memorable place. This project is an example of how hospitality architecture can be used to elevate a traditional experience into something new and exciting, creating an attraction in its own right.
