The Guest Experience as a Narrative

The Guest Experience as a Narrative

A stay at a hotel is a journey, and architecture plays a key role in shaping that story. It’s not just about providing a room; it’s about designing a narrative that guides guests through an experience. This is especially true in hospitality design, where every space, from the lobby to the dining area, has the potential to become part of a guest’s memory. Our work on the Glass Resort and the Trasti & Trine Boutique Hotel aimed to create this sense of a cohesive journey.

At the Glass Resort, the architecture is designed to build anticipation and wonder. The journey begins with the initial view of the glass-roofed lodges, which promise a unique experience. Once inside, the design focuses entirely on the spectacular views, allowing the landscape and the Northern Lights to become the main characters in the guest’s story. The architecture gets out of the way, creating a perfect stage for nature’s show. In contrast, the Trasti & Trine Boutique Hotel tells a different kind of story, one rooted in local culture and tradition. The spaces are designed to be warm and welcoming, encouraging guests to explore and feel a part of the community. Every material and detail contributes to a sense of place. This approach shows that architectural design can be a powerful storytelling tool, creating a rich and immersive experience for travellers.
